ACTION: May 7th City Centre Community Committee

(Updated to include info on how to participate at hearing.)

The City Centre Community Committee meets tomorrow, Tuesday, May 7th to decide the fate of a proposed multi-family development on Good St. See items #7 and 8 in the Hearings section of the meeting agenda. Hearings will start at 6 PM.

This development is purpose-built rental housing: a six-storey building with 145 units – which includes 1, 2, & 3-bedroom suites. Also included are communal amenities such as a theatre room, a gymnasium, and a business lounge. It also includes 145 indoor bike parking spaces – one for each unit. Below are some renderings provided by the developer, Ironclad Developments.

This infill site is located mid-block between Broadway and St. Mary Ave; a highly walkable location in the West Broadway neighbourhood in close proximity to downtown.  This development will replace unsightly surface parking lots and add a substantial number of rental units to meet a variety of housing needs, in an area that is well serviced by transit and has many amenities nearby.

Happily, the public service is recommending that this project be approved with conditions.  YIMBY Winnipeg encourages folks to attend the meeting and voice their support for the project.

To appear as a delegation to address Community Committee, please show up to City Council before 6 PM and register with the clerk outside for the meeting.

If you can’t attend in person, please consider sending messages of support to the members of the City Centre Community Committee:
