Organizational Description: Yes In My Back Yard (YIMBY) Winnipeg supports an affordable and sustainable Winnipeg that grows up, not out. We champion land-use and urban development reform in Winnipeg that will encourage a more walkable, accessible for all ages and abilities, sustainable, mixed-use and dense city.

Description of Duties: This volunteer, working closely with YIMBY Winnipeg’s spokesperson, will be responsible for producing and assisting to produce content for YIMBY Winnipeg’s social media channels and website/newsletter. This volunteer will also be expected to attend some monthly YIMBY Winnipeg Organizing Meetings to relay communications updates and receive feedback from YIMBY Winnipeg Supporters.

Required

Strong Writing Skills 

Ability to stay on-message

Working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), and WordPress 

Knowledge of urbanism and land-use issues or willingness to learn/read news stories on these topics

Assets

Working Knowledge of MailChimp, Discord, and Slack

Past communications/marketing experience

Age: 18 and Over

Time Commitment: 10 hours a month

Location of volunteer opportunity: Anywhere with internet connection
