April Urbanist Hangout in the Maples

Every other month, our Urbanist Hangouts will be in a Winnipeg Community Area OTHER than The Forks. For our second in-the-community meetup, we’re meeting up near 619 Sheppard Street, then heading out to tour the street environment of the Maples area. The Maples is an older suburb of Winnipeg. Northwest Winnipeg resident and community activist Chris Clacio will be guiding us around. Check the forecast ahead and dress accordingly! Upcoming Urbanist Hangouts

The Fork's Market 1 Forks Market Rd, Winnipeg

Come join us Tuesday, January 16th at 7 PM for our monthly urbanist hangout! Urbanist hangouts are a great way to talk to likeminded folks on urban issues in a relaxed, casual setting. This hangout is at The Forks. Plan, if space is permitting, is to meet near the former Sydney’s at the upper floor of at The Forks Market (see image). If not, we may go to the outside area by The Forks Market. Bold Zoning Reform needed to unlock tens of millions in federal funds Now is an exciting time for the movement for more homes and better land-use. The City's Housing Accelerator Fund is moving forward and the Mayor of Winnipeg has received a letter from the federal Housing Minister regarding Winnipeg's application. Bold zoning reform that permits more infill homes and smarter growth is needed to unlock dozens of millions of dollars in federal funds for Winnipeg! Let's go and get it done. For affordability, for climate, for community, and for funds for city services! About YIMBY Winnipeg: YIMBY stands for “Yes In My Backyard”.
