Infill Housing Love Letters Campaign – The Revival!
In 2020, YIMBY Winnipeg shared some love with the city that tried to capture the essence of community and urban development. The “Valentine’s Day Infill Housing Love Letters Campaign” brought people together to express their affection for infill housing, a crucial aspect of sustainable urban planning. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced a temporary halt to this creative initiative.
Now, in 2024, the Infill Housing Love Letters Campaign is making a triumphant return, ready to capture the hearts of Winnipeggers once again! The goal remains the same: to celebrate the beauty of infill housing and its contribution to creating resilient, walkable, and interconnected neighborhoods.
If you live in a mature neighbourhood with any infill homes, keep your eyes out for one of our amazing volunteers delivering valentines!
We want to thank Strong Towns writer, and fellow-Winnipegger, Emma Durand-Wood for her thoughtful feature of the original infill Valentine’s initiative. We also want to express gratitude to the brainchild behind the original idea and artistic brilliance of the campaign, Jason Syvixay. His vision brought life to the “You Complete My Street” concept, celebrating the role of infill housing in creating vibrant and complete neighborhoods in Edmonton, Alberta. Last, but not least, we would like to commend Ryan Palmquist for bringing the infill Valentines to Winnipeg before YIMBY Winnipeg took on the campaign.
