Tomorrow (Saturday, Feb 2) we’ll be meeting at Cousins Deli & Lounge on 55 Sherbrook St to discuss infill, sustainability and urban planning in Winnipeg and talk about what we can do to support density.
Of particular concern is what the Residential Infill Strategy could mean for density-increasing development in Winnipeg and the pressure from anti-density groups the City has been faces. The Residential Infill Strategy could mean restrictions on denser developments in mature residential neighbourhoods, where much of Winnipeg lives.
Denser developments are more environmentally friendly, cost less to service and are often more transit-friendly. Increasing density in Winnipeg is key to ensuring an environmentally and fiscally sustainable future.
